General Membership and Board Meeting held January 18th, 2004 LMHJA BOARD MINUTES January 18, 2004 Board Meeting: Meeting called to order by President Amy Edwards at 1:15 p.m. Results of vote for new board members: Kirsten Saldiver 3 yrs. Ena Hanson 3 yrs. Lisa Baker 3 yrs. Marcia Jepkema 2 yrs. Election of Officers: President: Amy Edwards Vice President: Kathryn Wells Secretary: Marcia Jepkema Treasurer: Molly Rheynard Election of Committees: Show Medals: Marilyn Murphy Sunshine: Chris Cochrane Newsletter: Theresa Kausrud & Kirsten Saldiver Judges Approval Committee: Chris Cochrane, Mike Hanson, Jim Murphy, Becky Bradley, Kirsten Saldiver Awards Banquet: Kirsten Saldiver, Chris Cochrane (Committee Chairman), Jim Murphy, Marilyn Murphy, Ena Hanson Rule Book Committee: Chris Cochrane, Marilyn Murphy, Madeline Carroll, Julie Sanford. Old Business: Equine Times has not updated LMHJA membership application correctly. Tosolve problem Lisa Baker will stop at their office and give them new information. Rule Book: Chris Cochrane reported on rule book changes to be made for 2004. Discussion on rule changes to page 11, rule 9 tabled till General Membership meeting and rule committee for approval. Medal qualifications discussed - leave as is and add to newsletter. Awards Banquet: discussion tabled until general membership meeting. Meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M. General Membership Meeting: Meeting called to order at 2:01 p.m Awards Banquet Committee: Kirsten Saldiver, Jim Murphy, Marilyn Murphy, Chris Cochrane(Committee Chairman), Ena Hanson.Location of banquet should have easy access to highways, centrally located as much as possible to all barns.Date: November 6th or 13th depending on hall availability.Costs: same as previous years. Horse Show Evaluations: Committee: Amy Edwards, Lisa Jannings, Marilyn Murphy, Molly Rheynard Results for 2003: Largest group of complaints were judges. Suggestions were made to rotate judges between Basic & Regular rings Proposal made to write up Judges evaluation sheet for all shows to hand out to their judges. Motion carried.Proposal made not to send letter to barns on results of 2003 evaluations. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS: Horse Show Dates: May 22 & 23 Cedar Lodge - Regular ring only May 29 & 30 Rolling Hills - Regular/Basic Rings June 12 & 13 Rolling Hills - Regular/Basic Rings June 19 & 20 Lou Don II - Regular/Basic Rings June 26 & 27 Huntington Valley - Regular/Basic Rings July 10 & 11 Twin Cities - Regular/Basic Rings July 17 & 18 Lou Don II - Regular/Basic Rings July 24 & 25 Huntington Valley - Regular/Basic Rings July 30 &August 1 Alpine Ridge Farms - Regular/Basic Rings Sept 4 & 5 Cedar Lodge - Regular/Basic Rings 2004 MEDAL FINALS Treasurer’s Report: $60.00 in checking account Other Discussion -Courses clinic suggested-to standardize fence heights, jumps, distances and turns. Decided that it is too late in year to plan. -Proposal to write up list of suggested standards for courses, jumps and rings. Motion carried. Amy Edwards has volunteered to write standards. Lisa Jennings and Molly Rheynard to proof. -Annual Fun Show/Clinic suggested - tabled until fall. -Discussion on how to make medal classes more special- recognition, incentives, ways to fill medal classes -Non-approved helmets at shows need to be brought to the attention of the show steward. -Schooling shows to be put in newsletter. -Clothing code for jumpers should be enforced - rulebook will add proper attire for jumper classes and will be in newsletter. -Reminder for barn owners not to post courses (for medal classes in particular) until after schooling is over.
