LMHJA HOSTING SHOW RULES
1. All hosting show farms must pay their membership by March 1st. 2. There will be a $15.00 limit on entry fees for classes with no payback. 3. The hosting show barn must have a schooling or warm-up ring available on Friday. The ring must be open to exhibitors no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Schooling in show rings on Saturday and Sunday before the start of the show will be at the discretion of the hosting show barn. 4. At least 50% of all fences in each class should be set at the maximum fence height for that division. The only exception will be due to poor footing conditions. It will be the Steward’s decision to make any adjustments. 5. Class fees from the Regular and Basic Warm-up classes will be collected and given out as a payback each day. The top rider each day will receive a 50% payback, with 25% going to the show barn and 25% going to LMHJA for the purchase of ShowPro, a computer and printer. 6. All jumper classes must have paybacks. The paybacks for jumper classes shall be 80% on a 40-30-20-10 basis. Hosting show barns may organize their own sponsorship to increase the payback. Minimum $20.00 per jumper class. 7. Judges: All judges must have a U.S. Equestrian rating. 8. Judges: The same judge can only be used for an LMHJA horse show every other year. All judges must sit by themselves while judging, unless an understudy is working with the judge. 9. A show Steward must be present at every approved show, must hold a current LMHJA membership and know all LMHJA horse show rules. Any current or past LMHJA board member can be a Steward. Hosting Show Barns must make sure the show Steward walks the course in each ring before the start of the show each day and make any necessary adjustments. 10. Medical personnel must be identified at the show and a first-aid kit must be available. Medical personnel can be anyone with 60 hours or more of first-aid/emergency care training, an RN or a Doctor. 11. A $2.00 LMHJA Horse Fee (per horse, per show) shall be sent to the LMHJA Treasurer for year-end awards. The Horse Fee is to be paid to the LMHJA Treasurer by the show chairperson. All hosting show barns of an LMHJA horse show must provide to the LMHJA Point Keeper within 10 days after the show the following show records: 1) A Master List of all exhibitors, including the assigned back number, name of rider, name of horse, the horse owner’s name and membership numbers; 2) A Class List of all exhibitors entered in each class; 3) A Placing Chart showing the placing of the top six (6) exhibitors (1st – 6th place) of each class in the division, including the back number, name of rider, name of horse and horse owner’s name. Failure to provide the required records to the Point Keeper will result in the hosting show paying a penalty of $100 to the LMHJA Association
12. All hosting show barns of an LMHJA horse show must provide to the LMHJA Point Keeper within 10 days after the show the following show records: 1) A Master List of all exhibitors, including the assigned back number, name of rider, name of horse, the horse owner’s name and membership numbers; 2) A Class List of all exhibitors entered in each class; 3) A Placing Chart showing the placing of the top six (6) exhibitors (1st – 6th place) of each class in the division, including the back number, name of rider, name of horse and horse owner’s name. Failure to provide the required records to the Point Keeper will result in the hosting show paying a penalty of $100 to the LMHJA Association.
13. The ShowPro computer must be transferred to the next show’s secretary at least two weeks prior to that show. 14. Show dates must be reserved at the fall meeting for the following show season. All farms requesting show dates MUST be present at this meeting. 15. In order to host an LMHJA horse show, the hosting show barn must be a member in good standing. The hosting show barn must participate in at least 50% of the approved LMHJA shows per season and can only count one of their own shows toward the 50% rule. At the end of the season, if a hosting show barn failed to attend the minimum requirement, the offending show barn will be fined $25.00 for each show day not attended under the 50% rule. 16. No new member can host an LMHJA horse show during the first season of membership. 17. LMHJA membership forms must be printed in all show bills. 18. All show bills must inform exhibitors that a $10.00 non-membership fee will be charged to non-members. The fee will be sent to the LMHJA Treasurer. 19. LMHJA requires all show barns hosting an LMHJA show provide a Certificate of Insurance two weeks prior to the show date. Proof must be sent to the LMHJA Treasurer. LMHJA should be listed as an “added insured” on this certificate. If the show barn does not comply, a $100.00 fine will be levied and the farm will forfeit their show date for the following year. 20. LMHJA requires all barns hosting an LMHJA show provide a professionally maintained sanitary facility on the show grounds during horse shows. 21. LMHJA requests any show farm not receiving membership mailing labels four weeks prior to their show date contact the LMHJA Point Keeper. 22. A copy of a negative Coggins test is required for each horse at each show and shown to the show secretary before a show number will be assigned. Each show barn must add this provision to their show bill. 23. Courses should be set strategically to end by out-gates. 24. Fence heights for each division must be listed in all show bills, including the lowest and highest height. 25. Optional & unrecognized classes are permitted and may be added anywhere on the show scheduled. 26. Fences and Poles: Striped poles are allowed in both hunter and jumper classes. Jumper panels are not allowed in hunter or equitation classes. In all hunter and equitation classes, fences must be proportional and not “airy”. A distance of no more than 3” must be between one element and the next. 27. The Dover Challenge logo must be placed in each show bill. The rules for the Dover Challenge should be available at the entry booth. |
